United Way Young Leaders Society sThe society focuses on encouraging philanthropy, promoting volunteerism and offering opportunities for personal and professional growth Junior Committee of the Friends of Inner-City Scholarship Fund: They support the inner-city Catholic school system by providing educational and recreational activities for the children of the schools. They hold an annual track event, art and poetry contest and Christmas party. The other events are held on Saturday mornings and consist of trips to museums, zoos and other cultural trips around New York City. The schools they support are from Manhattan, Staten Island and the Bronx. Their goal is to enrich students' lives by providing opportunities that they would not have otherwise. The committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month at PricewaterhouseCoopers at 1301 Avenue of the Americas at 52nd-53rd in the Chairman Room on the 2nd Floor. We meet at 7 p.m. and it runs until around 8 p.m. The events for the Junior committee are on Saturday mornings usually. The fundraising events are throughout the school year either on a weeknight or on the weekend, depending on the nature of the event Inner City Scholarship Fund Volunteer Match: Get involved in various volunteer opportunities around NYC and the surrounding areas. Volunteer Match NY Cares - New York Cares' mission is to unite and enable caring New Yorkers to help people in need and improve our city through volunteer service and creative giving. This group creates more than 2,000 opportunities each month for volunteers to serve on flexibly-scheduled, team-based service projects that we coordinate in partnership with schools, social service agencies, and environmental groups. Participating in hands-on projects, New York Cares volunteers tutor children, feed the hungry, assist people living with HIV/AIDS, revitalize gardens, take homeless children on recreational outings, visit the elderly, and so much more. Their Faith In Action/NOFEC provides volunteer caregivers to respite informal, family caregivers and services to the homebound of all ages to assist them in remaining independent with dignity in their homes and community.
