Toastmasters Sacramento/District 39: Toastmasters members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once a week for about an hour. Each meeting gives everyone an opportunity to practice: Find local affiliates of Toastmasters International, listed by town. District 39 Toastmasters

Big Sisters Big Sisters of Greater Sacramento:  Big Brothers Big Sisters provides a special one-to-one friendship between a carefully screened and trained adult and a boy (8-16) or girl (7-16) from a single-parent home. There are four different time commitments a volunteer can sign up for.  Big Brothers and Big Sisters are stable and mature adults over 18. A Big Brother or Big Sister does not replace the parent. He or she provides support and friendship. Although there is a waiting period to get a Big Brother or Big Sister, children who are placed in the waiting period are invited to all agency activities and outings. 916-482-9300
